“Greetings survivor! I’m Spiffo the Community Raccoon!”
“If you want to know the current build status of Project Zomboid – you’ve come to the right place!”

A public test build of the long-awaited RC3 build has finally been released – dubbed imaginatively as RC2.9. This was released early so we could have a wider net to catch some nasty issues that cropped up with certain Intel chipsets and certain graphics cards. As of the seventh build of 2.9 we’ve managed to quash many of these, but there is still a little work to do in terms of getting remaining survivors back in the PZ safehouse.

You can find download links to the latest builds on our forum, but please be aware that we’re having to be creative with how we release them since their popularity was proving costly beyond our imagination due to the bandwidth being sucked up by eager Zomboidateers. We’re currently using torrents, but have several options in terms of more stable direct downloads that we’ll let you know about as soon as they’re 100% in place. There have been regular versions of the Public Test released, so please download the most recent one.

If you’re one of the people still having issues running the game then we could do with your help – find the relevant thread in the Support Forum (it’s likely you won’t be the first with a specific issue at this point) and post up your experience. As soon as everyone’s running around Muldraugh and getting themselves eaten, we’ll be able to update the version of the game that’s on Desura.

Our next step is to work on the Kate and Baldspot tutorial – which is currently best played in the elderly 0.1.5d build. After that we will finish our NPC meta-game and get fellow AI survivors running around Muldraugh once again.

Beyond that, Steam Early Access beckons.
